St. Croix Catholic Faith Formation

As the staff at SCCFF strives to meet the goals of faith formation, we are constantly adding new and exciting programs, enhancing programs already in place, and making a sincere effort to meet the needs of all members in the Tri-parish communities. We believe that Faith Formation is empowering. Empowering and enabling individuals and families to live their faith at home and in the world are constitutive of lifelong faith formation.

Our faith formation program is offering a number of options for families whose children are in grades Pre-K through Confirmation, along Youth Ministry and Adult Enrichment.

Wednesday Afternoon (Grades k-8):  Kindergarten through sixth grade classes will be held an average of three Wednesday afternoons a month from 4:15 – 5:45 pm.  Service Nights will be held three time throughout the year in conjunction with regular class time.

Wednesday evening (Grades K-8):  Evening classes for students in grades K-8 will be meet an average of three Wednesdays each month from September through May.  6:30 - 8:00 in St. Croix Catholic School Cafeteria (classes will break from there).   8th Graders report directly to the John and Mary building; not the cafetera.  Service Nights will be held three time throughout the year in conjunction with regular class time.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (Pre-K ages 3 & 4)
NEW THIS YEAR - more information soon!

Confirmation: The schedule for youth enrolled in Confirmation preparation (grades 9 and up) will require attendance with their parent(s), sponsor, grandparent, or other adult mentor at the Intergenerational sessions and two additional small/large group sessions scheduled during each month from 6:30 – 8:00 pm at St. Mary's.

Jr. High Youth Group:  ‘Activate’ A relational ministry intended to help junior high students ‘activate’ their Catholic identity by connecting knowledge obtained in their formal, catechetical environment – be it St. Croix Catholic Middle School (SCCS), Faith Formation or Home School – with a personal relationship with God. Elements of games, music, hands-on activities, talks, small group discussions, and prayer help the staff of senior high peer ministers (Teen Core) to integrate faith and daily life.

Sr. High Youth Group:  (Formerly Life Teen)‘Veritas’ The purpose of Veritas (Latin for ‘truth’) is to lead high school teenagers to discover the truth in the teachings of the Church, but above all to encounter Truth himself in the person of Jesus Christ. Veritas is the Catholic youth outreach program for the St. Croix Valley that provides young people with the opportunity to encounter Christ and the life of his Church by means of what our staff has dubbed ‘backdoor catechesis’ – intensely traditional theological and philosophical learning by non-traditional means such as: games & activities, music, media, discussions, talks, prayer, and sacraments. Above all, Veritas is a relational ministry -- a ministry based on the forming of healthy mentor relationships as a means of communicating relationship with Christ.

Senior High Sessions:  NEW THIS YEAR!!!! In order to encourage teenagers to continue the learning process beyond the Confirmation year – short, intensive series will be offered. These series include, but are not limited to: The Teen Timeline scripture studies of the Gospel of Matthew, Acts of the Apostles, and/or Revelation; The Theology of the Body for Teens (Ascension Press, 2006); and a discussion-based “Great Books Club” which will include such Catholic classics as Dante’s The Divine Comedy, St. Augustine’s Confessions, and C.S. Lewis’ Mere Christianity.

Adult Opportunities:  SCCFF also continues to support all the excellent, established adult formation opportunities that the Tri-Parishes have come to enjoy. Information about all the adult formation opportunities available can be found at www.stillwatercatholics.net, or by calling the Faith Formation staff at 651-351-3175.

Thank you to all the supporters of SCCFF. Your kindness and generosity is greatly appreciated. It is through that support that St. Croix Catholic Faith Formation continues to develop programs that assist St. Croix Valley Catholics form a deeper relationship with Christ by Learning and Living their Faith.
